{"id":947,"date":"2015-01-08T15:03:10","date_gmt":"2015-01-08T15:03:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/?p=947"},"modified":"2015-01-08T15:03:10","modified_gmt":"2015-01-08T15:03:10","slug":"quilt-inspired-tatting-another-design-approach-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/quilt-inspired-tatting-another-design-approach-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Quilt-Inspired Tatting&#8211;Another Design Approach&#8211;3"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_922\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-922\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/DSCN1430.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-922 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/DSCN1430-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"DSCN1430\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/DSCN1430-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/DSCN1430-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Diamond-Based Quilt-Inspired Tatting Designs<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>These are just the designs that I have tatted in my <span style=\"color: #00ccff;\">&#8216;Diamond-Based&#8217;<\/span> Series of <strong><span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\">Quilt-Inspired Fun with Split Ring Tatting.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There are a whole bunch more designs that can be done with this design principle using stacked diamond motifs that I have drawn\/design into my design notebook and computer.<\/p>\n<p>Even if I quit my full-time job, I could NOT keep up with tatting my designs!!!!\u00a0 I pick and choose which ones I want\/need to do during my lunch breaks and a few minutes in\u00a0the evenings.\u00a0 My time at home however is split between actually tatting and working on the computer, drawing the designs and the patterns themselves.\u00a0 The good thing about my patterns is that they are all so geometric and mathematical.\u00a0 I can draw a design and put stitch number in between picots and as long as I can add the numbers up to equal the ring count total, it all works.\u00a0 I use alot of geometry in my designing and pattern-making.<\/p>\n<p>Not all designs work up into tatting though!\u00a0 There are some quilt-block designs that won&#8217;t work up into tatting.\u00a0 Maybe in the future, I will share some of these designs ideas that will never be tatting <em>(as least in my hands).<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The bottom 3 designs are directly attributed to quilting patterns<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bottom Left:\u00a0 &#8216;Lucky Star&#8217;<\/li>\n<li>Bottom Middle:<\/li>\n<li>Bottom Right:\u00a0 &#8216;Tumbling Blocks&#8217;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Upper Left &amp; Upper Right designs are sort of 3-D in appearance.\u00a0 The use of thread colors and placement of the blocks\u00a0tricks the eye into seeing them as blocks <em>(<\/em><em>imagine the kind you play with and stack).\u00a0 <\/em>I have written about the Upper Right design before in old blog posts:\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/3-d-esque-design\/\">Click here\u00a0to open this blog post in a new window\u00a0\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p>All of these <span style=\"color: #993366;\">Quilt-Inspired SRT<\/span> designs will be published \u00a0in books by next August when I will be teaching a class on it at the IOLI Convention in Iowa City, Iowa.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These are just the designs that I have tatted in my &#8216;Diamond-Based&#8217; Series of Quilt-Inspired Fun with Split Ring Tatting.
