{"id":1569,"date":"2015-08-12T19:37:45","date_gmt":"2015-08-12T19:37:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/?p=1569"},"modified":"2015-08-12T19:37:45","modified_gmt":"2015-08-12T19:37:45","slug":"a-synopsis-of-my-past-few-months","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/a-synopsis-of-my-past-few-months\/","title":{"rendered":"A synopsis of my past few months"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have a new view of life lately!!!\u00a0 I have been getting ready to go to the IOLI Convention in Iowa City, Iowa (which was July 27-August 1) for over a year now.\u00a0 It all started when I was proposing classes to the Convention coordinators over a year ago.\u00a0 They liked the idea of a quilt-themed tatting class based upon Split Ring Tatting Technique.\u00a0 I had been playing around with the quilt idea to create tatting patterns for a while, but had not really dived into the topic.\u00a0 When this class topic was chosen, I DID immerse myself into the world of historic quilt blocks&#8211;a world of color, repetition and symmetry, all concepts that I enjoy in my tatting.<\/p>\n<p>So for over a year, I have been studying historic quilt blocks and converting the designs into tatting.\u00a0 Once again, Split Ring Tatting Technique gave me the base to create my tatted quilt-interpretations.<\/p>\n<p>I created two different books based upon quilt designs:\u00a0 <span style=\"color: #ff00ff;\"><em><strong>Patchwork Quilt Blocks in Split Ring Tatting<\/strong><\/em><\/span> &amp; with getting them printed that I decided to test my publishing skills by getting a third book done: <span style=\"color: #00ff00;\"><em><strong>Block Alphabets in Split Ring Tatting<\/strong><\/em><span style=\"color: #000000;\">.\u00a0 This book of 2 different block\u00a0alphabets (and frames to use the letters\/number) \u00a0had been about 90% done for several years.\u00a0 This book had lost my interest to finish due to the fun I was having with the Quilt-Inspired books.\u00a0 But I &#8216;buckled-down&#8217; and poured my time into finishing it.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Alphabet-Cover.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-1594\" src=\"http:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Alphabet-Cover-207x300.jpg\" alt=\"Alphabet Cover\" width=\"150\" height=\"217\" srcset=\"https:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Alphabet-Cover-207x300.jpg 207w, https:\/\/survivalarchitecture.com\/shuttlesmithblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Alphabet-Cover.jpg 385w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><\/a>All three of these books were published and printed in the time span of end of June to the beginning of July.\u00a0 I had possession of 3 boxes of my 5 books all in time to go to IOLI Convention where I debutted them.<\/p>\n<p>Now they are available for purchase on my website:\u00a0 www.TheShuttleSmith.com\u00a0 Click on the &#8220;Tatting Books&#8221;
