I (re)found it in my sewing machine cabinet, where it’s been for several decades.
The needle at the top goes up and down when the handle is turned.
Anyone know what this is/is for?

Romanian Point Lace Pieces found locally in western Colorado antique store
I actually found two of this piece, both identical. Price paid: $5 each.
I look in antique stores a lot to find lace and will tell you that finding a piece of RPL is very rare, let alone 2 identical pieces, in a remote antique store in a small town.
These pieces feature 3 different crocheted braids.
